Author Visits

I love visiting schools. As a teacher, I understand the importance of cultivating creativity in the classroom and beyond. The presentations cover what poetry is, how I use it in my classroom, and the importance of the spoken word. I will discuss using poetry as a tool to express how you feel and using the world around us to inspire the writing process. Each presentation includes original works, along with inspiring works of former students and established poets. Throughout the presentation, I offer writing tips and keep the students engaged in a variety of ways. (40-45 min presentation) I am also available for poetry workshops and family literacy workshops.

THE BUZZ-INESS

I can tailor visits fit to your school's needs. A full-day visit typically includes three 45-minute presentations/workshops, Q&A sessions, and a book signing. Half-day visits are also available. 

For schools outside the New Jersey area, travel fees may apply. To manage costs, many schools choose to partner with other schools in their district to share base and travel expenses. I am happy to work with you to create a schedule and budget that works best for you. 

Book Ordering and Signing

Please order books well in advance through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or directly  my publisher. For discounted bulk orders, an order form will be provided. I am happy to sign books and enjoy talking with teachers, librarians, volunteers, or selected students during lunch.
